Hey friends!
I hope you all had an awesome weekend! I had an eventful week last week. I managed to have 2 children in the ER with stitches 5 days apart… ‘Mom of the Year’ right here!
So… I decided to tackle an easy project over the weekend. I needed something simple and quick and this one fit the bill!
I have stared at the blank space above my board and batten wall for too long… I finally filled it with my 5 favorite little people! Here is how my wall gallery frames turned out!
These are so simple to make! Bust out your hot glue gun… No power tools needed on these bad boys.
Here we go…
I started with 5 frames I found at Walmart! These were $5, but I love the way they look. You can also find cheaper frames at the dollar store if you want!
I started by taking the back off the frame, and removing the glass. Basically… You want a blank open frame.
Now for the inside…
I took those pieces and stuck them back in the frame. I hot glued mine in place. Gorilla tape is another great and easy way to hold them in place.
I needed a way to hang them, so I used these cup hooks from the hardware store and spray painted them black to match my chain. Then, I just screwed 2 of them into the top of each frame about 2″ from each side!
This is the chain I used… Each frame has a chain that is 42 pieces of chain long. I just used a pair of cutting pliers to cut the chain the length I needed it. I found my chain at Lowe’s for around $7.
My favorite part is the finials! I used these unfinished finials from Lowe’s. They used to carry 3 different sizes, but this is the only style my Lowe’s carries now… Boo. Oh well… Worked for this project! I stained mine using Rust-Oluem Wood Stain in Early American.
You can also use hooks or drapery finials for a cute way to hang your chain. My frames are very light, so I wasn’t concerned about weight. I just used my hand to screw them directly into the wall 16″ apart. If you are concerned about weight, just add some anchors to the wall first and put the finials into the anchors… Easy!
I like to print my pictures from home for all of my projects! It’s quick and easy, and perfect for the fickle crafter like myself 😉 Walmart also offers great prices on their 1-hour developing. I like using photo paper like this…
I wanted a fun way to attach my photos to the frames. I also wanted to be able to change them out whenever I wanted. I decided to use decorative tacks for mine. I found mine at Hobby Lobby, but you can also find them at your hardware store! I just pushed a tack into the 4 corners of each picture. The tack does stick out on the back a bit, but since nobody sees that part I decided to ignore it 🙂 These will obviously leave holes in your photos… So, I would encourage cheap prints and copies of photos like I use.
That’s it! Simple, cheap and oh so CHIC!
What do you think??
Hope you love it as much as I do!
I would love for you to share my frames and PIN them below!
Thanks so much for stopping by! I am off… Hopefully not to the ER… Again. 😉

Love this idea! It looks so great I decided to give it a whirl! Love fun and inexpensive DIY projects that look expensive! 🙂
I can’t really tell…did you put the glass back in the frame? I’m thinking it probably doesn’t fit with the tacks, but wanted to double check.
I love this project! The finials are adorable! I just might do something similar going up my stairs…LOVE! Thanks for the inspiration. 🙂
Love these! Do you have any great tricks (miracles) to make sure each of your hangers is in line with the other? Thanks!
Great idea Whitney! I love these!
Nice job! Love the finials! We have wainscotting through our dining room, and although I love the look, it is really difficult to decorate above it, so I feel your pain. 🙂
Now that’s the way to do a gallery wall! Love the finials.
That looks fantastic! I love it! And so affordable! Thanks for the step by step instructions!
Are your prints 10×13?
the frames are 10×13, the prints are probably an 8×10
LOVE THIS! Thank you for sharing! I will be doing this over the weekend!
I really do like this idea a lot! Thanks for sharing. Pinned. 🙂
The gallery wall looks amazing! And I’m sorry you had to go to the ER twice!! Yikes!! Glad everything’s ok.
Love these! I’m just confused where the hooks went. Are they screwed into the top of the frames?
Danielle, if you look closely at the picture, you can see them screwed into the top of the frame. Blends nicely with the chain.
I love this look!. I have been looking for an idea to use for 6 old fishing pictures to use at our lake house and this is it.
Was it difficult to screw those hooks into the wood? Any splittering?
Yes! 🙂
These are SO adorable!! I must do these sometime! 😉 Thanks so much for sharing!
