Hey guys!

I am in the middle of redoing my little guy’s room, as many of you may know.   To keep up with all of our projects from start to finish, be sure to follow us on Instagram!  I feel the need to stress in each post that I do love this boy very much, and also miss his crib.  It has been so fun giving him a new ‘big boy’ room, but I miss the CAGE!  Nights have been hard.  That’s all.  Thank you for listening.

Moving on:-)

I really wanted to put his name on the wall somewhere.  I found the perfect corner for it, and I LOVE how it turned out!

Now these couldn’t be any easier!

I found these great, black letters at Hobby Lobby for $4 a piece.

They were messed up and kind of scratched, but I had big plans for these babies!

To start, I rubbed a bit of Vaseline in different spots on all of the letters.

The Vaseline will keep the next coat of paint from sticking.

I used Rust-Oleum Colonial Red Satin spray paint for my letters.  I also used my comfort grip to save my fingers and my manicure 😉  LOVE this thing… I have like 6 of them!

I gave all my letters a good coat of paint!

After they dried, I used a small sanding pad to lightly mess up my edges.  Where I put the Vaseline, the paint lifted off to give them a ‘chippy’ look.

Time to hang them up!  This part is simple too!  I used 3M Command Strips for this part.

All you do is stick two of them together like this…

Next I peeled off one cover and attached it to the back of my letter.  I used two strips for each letter.

Then, I just peeled off the other tab and attached it to the wall!

That’s it!  Told you it was easy 🙂  And, I LOVE how it turned out!  I think it add so much to his room 🙂  What do you think?

I built my own using the plans at www. WoodworkPlans.info – highly recommended you check those out too. They are detailed and super easy to read and understand unlike several others I found online. The amount of plans there is mind-boggling… there’s like 16,000 plans or something like that for tons of different projects. Definitely enough to keep me busy with projects for many more years to come haha

Head on over to www. WoodworkPlans.info if you want to learn more – click the pink link above for some more plans! Best of luck on your building adventures!

  2. I love this! Was on the hobby lobby website… could you tell me what size (inches) in height those letters are?

  3. Love the name. Been looking for something like this. I also love the quilt. Where did you fine it? or did you make it.

  4. Do you have a close up of the letters? I am curious about the Vaseline trick and what the chipped look is

  5. Very nice. I have “EAT” I’ve wanted on my kitchen wall but was unsure how I would hang the letters. Now I know! Thanks.

  6. So cute, I love the big letters! His room looks amazing! It is always hard to transfer kids to a big bed! I have five boys and I had to train them, when they got out I would show no emotion at all, good or bad, I would just pick them up and put them back in….30 times if necessary. I wouldn’t say a word, give them a hug, or look them in the eyes, it was hard! Of course I gave them all the love and songs and hugs and kisses the first time I tucked them in, but if they got out after that they got nothing. After a few nights It got less and less til they figured out mom isn’t going to give me anything so they just stayed in bed! Good luck, some kids are harder than others!
