Hey guys!  I made it back from out of town safe and had a little something to show you before I start my own projects.  I spent the last few days with the two most talented people I know… Literally.  They ooze creativity and everything they make looks like it cost a million bucks even though it is usually made with pennies.  It’s my husband’s mom and step-dad.  She is the one who taught me to sew along with MANY other things.  He is an amazing artist and woodworker…. Lucky me, right???   Well, we had discussed that my younger daughter was loving Legos right now and they suggested a Lego table.  I jumped on that and they got to work.  My jaw dropped when she opened it this last weekend…
Yes… That is a Lego table!  I told them that I was going to steal it from my daughter because I loved it soooo much!
He used 2×4’s cut in half for the legs, some scrap fiberboard for everything else and then used a medallion they found at Hobby Lobby for the center detail…. Oh… I love it….
He spray painted the entire thing with Rust-Oleum Painter’s Touch in Black… Man of good taste:)  He then glued the two Lego boards to the top using a bit of Gorilla Glue.  I have it next to her bed for the moment but I think it will move to another part of the room soon.  Now it just needs a cute stool… I have added that to my project list:)  What do you think??  Did your jaw drop like mine??
Thank you Gigi and Chemmy for this AMAZING gift.  My kids are so blessed to have both of you in their lives.
Get those posts ready for January 7th!  These don’t have to be big projects… Just ANYTHING your two hands have made without the help of your hubby’s!  Have a great Wednesday!!

  1. That is an adorable Lego table! And therein might lie the difference between how girls play Legos versus boys. My guys need at least a square mile in which to spread their Legos. 😉

  2. Oh my goodness, this is just stunning. What a talented person. I am with you, I think I would steal this lovely piece for somewhere else in the house. lol I know your daughter will love it. Hugs, Marty

  3. Wow! I think I need to start playing with Legos! That's better than most of the furniture in my house. I love how it's a Lego table, but it has a feminine side too.

How did one family get such dominant creative genes? Lucky you!

  4. Very impressive! What kind in-laws and what a lucky little girl. Such a smart idea.

Have a wonderful New Year. Hugs…Tracy

  5. I stumbled across your blog a few weeks ago and I must say I am in love with all of your projects. I am even more in love with how easy you make them all look – (with directions of course). I was always afraid to build something on my own or to even refinish a piece of furniture.

Well thanks to you 2010 will be my year to try something new! Can't wait to see what you come up with next! Thanks!!!!

  6. Whitney~~

Your in~laws are the best and SO talented!! What a beautiful piece of furniture. I am sure after your daughter tires of Legos, you will easily find a new purpose for it!!

Have a wonderful, happy & healthy New Year!!

    xoxo

  7. This post totally cracked me up…my brother (a long time ago) was also totally into legos…we banished he and his legos to under the ping pong table, as we were sick of stepping on those dang things….and although this table is really not his style:) he would have LOVED a special table just for his legos…pretty sure the hard floor wasn't that fun to sit on!

    It is seriously beautiful…!

  8. That is amazing! What a great idea. Perfect for a little lady's room. You've got some great in-laws.
    Happy New Year!
