Hey there!  We hope you all had a wonderful Easter with your families!  We had to move our annual Easter egg hunt indoors because we were hit with flash floods all day but that didn’t put a damper on our hunt!  We even got a very forced picture of the youngest generation in the family!  17 little munchkins hunting for eggs in one house….you can imagine how crazy that was;)

Amidst the craziness, I managed to squeeze in a quick project that I have actually been needing badly!

We don’t have a spot in our master bath for hand towels and I don’t like having them lay on the counter.  They don’t dry well and they just look so cute hanging;)  I saw this as an opportunity to shanty something up and here’s how I made two for $10!

I started with a 1×4 furring strip (about $1.50 at your local hardware store).  If you have scraps that’s great and it will save you a little dough.  I cut 8 pieces at 8.5″.

I used my pal Kreg to attach the pieces together.  If you don’t have one, you can nail 1×2’s from the back but they will sit further out from the wall.

Just a pic of the pocket holes.

After I attached the boards together (4 boards each) I sanded them down on the edges and the front.

I then followed up with one coat of Rust-Oleum Dark Walnut stain🙂

I chose these little silver hooks that I purchased at Lowe’s for about $3.50 each.  I attached them at the top of the second board from the bottom.

Now for a little fun:)

I have this Waverly fabric left over, from my master bedroom, that I love!  I decided to tie it into my bathroom with a few flat-rolled rosettes.  You can click HERE for the tutorial:)

I just hot glued them onto each board and added a couple of hand towels:)

This project will take you about an hour and cost you about $10 for 2!  That’s my kind of project:)  If you love it, I would LOVE pins below:)  Thanks so much and have a great week!  ~Ashley

    1. ✨✨?????? I used the plans at www. WoodworkPlans.info to build mine – I highly recommend you visit that website and check their plans out too. They are detailed and super easy to read and understand unlike several others I found online. The amount of plans there is mind-boggling… there’s like 16,000 plans or something like that for tons of different projects. Definitely enough to keep me busy with projects for many more years to come haha ✨✨✨

  1. This may be random, but I’m looking for a paint color for my master bathroom, and I love that color…do you remember which paint color that is?!

Can’t wait to do this project to hold my towels! 🙂

  2. Love love!! Do you think gorilla wood glue would be strong enough to hold the pieces together?? Don’t have a kreg and really don’t want it sitting off the wall.

    1. I’ve tried doing just a wall hanging with the furring strips using gorilla glue and it didn’t hold up. We went back and stapled a super thin layer of wood going straight down the back to give it more stablity.

  3. These are beautiful, I have a wooden pallet that I am going to tackle to make one of these! Thanks for the tutorial 🙂

  4. What did you use to attach the boards together? This is an awesome idea. I have the same problem in my downstairs bathroom. I also love the finishing touch 🙂

  5. Exactly what I would expect to see in a designer home’s bathroom… Thanks for the easy-breezy instructions on how to recreate the look for ourselves. This is great!

  6. I LOVE YOUR HOUSE! Every room is just beautiful…
I’m so jealous! And I will definitely be making these one day 🙂

  7. I love the look in your bathroom! I’m planning on remodeling our master bathroom soon to have a wood tone, organic, sea breeze kind of feel to it… if that makes any sense 🙂 This would fit PERFECTLY in that and looks much cuter than towel rings 🙂

On a side note… do you remember/know where the wall light fixture came from? We’re looking to replace our ugly brass hollywood lights (haha!) and that’s VERY similar to what I’m looking for!

  8. I’m definitely doing this one today! I’ve been a tad bit intimidated by those rosettes but this lit a fire under my butt to figure it out!
