Let me tell you that my next project makes me smile! You mommies of boys out there may know what I am talking about.
Have you ever found darts stuck to your windows like this??
Or how about here???
Yup. That’s the fan. They are good shots 😉
In my effort to give these darts a new home, I decided to make a dart board for my son’s room. Here is how it turned out…
I know a map may seem strange, but I will get to that in a minute!
I put this together really quickly! For the wood board I used scraps of 1×2 and 1×3 and constructed it the same way I made my wood LOVE sign above my couch. Here is a little detail shot of the back, but you can see the full tutorial on how I constructed it here.
I decided to paint this piece since I have stained just about everything else in his room. I used the same color as the trim in his room. It is a Valspar color called Ivory Lace. I just dry brushed it on the edges. I wanted it to be kind of messy looking with the planks.
Now for the map part…
My son loves globes and playing Stack the Countries. He also loves to shoot things everything. I thought this would be a great way to combine them both! It’s also a fun way for him to learn and practice his reading. Good combo!
I found my map poster on Amazon. You can really use anything for your picture! I laid it in the center of the boards.
To cover the map I used plexiglass. It’s not expensive, and I had it cut for free at Lowe’s. I just used my drill to put a hole in each corner like this.
Then I used wood screws and washers to hold it in place on my board!
That’s it! I used some sawtooth hangers to attach it to his wall.
He’s a happy man. Actually I have 2 happy customers…
They are pretty camera shy. Can you tell?? 😉
Thanks for stopping by! If you know any other mommies going bonkers pulling darts off every surface in their home, I would love for you to share this with them!
Have a great day!

I had to laugh out loud when I saw where you have found darts. I opened by shower curtain last week and found one stuck to back wall. One of them must have been hiding in there LOL! Love this idea!
Haha! That’s awesome! I figured there would be some moms out there that would relate! 😉
we just had an awesome family nerf war. Those things are so fun! We make targets with pieces of colored paper stuck to the walls with double stick tape. Easy, but not as awesome as the map!
Love that idea though! So fun! 🙂
What a GREAT idea!! I have a big empty spot in the playroom just waiting for this project! How much did you pay for the plexiglass?! 🙂
I know it was under $20, but I bought it a while back. Hope this helps!! 🙂
My boys would love this. Whenever you do your painting on wood do you prime first?
I usually don’t! I do like to use a paint with a primer in it. Thanks so much! Hope this helps! 😉
