Hey guys!!

Since building my last kids table for the playroom, I have added 2 new kiddos to the picture.  I knew it was time to “upsize” my table.  I had a design in mind and worked with  Ana, who delivered with these great plans  for a kids table.  I am in love!  It fits my space perfectly, and there are room for friends!  Here it is all finished!

I will share some tips and photos here, and you can see the full set of these plans on Ana’s site!

For starters… I had this table totally built in under an hour and a half.  It really was a very simple, basic build.  My total cost for lumber was under $65.  For a table that seats 8 kiddos, I would say that’s pretty darn good!

You start by building 3 legs…

The middle one is just a bit different…

For the 2×2’s, I used my Kreg Jig® to attach them at the corners.

I would have used them here too in the middle of the table, but I had already attached the 1×2’s.  I had to use wood screws to attach it there.  If I could go back, I would have put some pocket holes on those 1×2’s.  Lesson learned!

To attach the table top, I laid it flat on the ground and put my table base on top of it.  I then used wood screws from the bottom and drilled through my 2×2’s to attach.  Easy peasy!

For the stain I used my very favorite…

Rust-Oleum Ultimate Wood Stain in Dark Walnut

And since my kids have been known to make a few messes, I finished the table with this…

Rust-Oleum Ultimate Polyurethane with Soft Touch

best polyurethane

It’s awesome!  It dries very quickly, and you don’t see brush strokes.  Love it!

That’s it! Pretty simple!  Here are a few more pictures!

So… What do you think??

  2. I am in LOVE with this table! I really want to make one for my boys but I’d like to make it a little taller – 27″ in height. Can you tell me what cuts I would need to make differently? I’m very new to DIY building projects and I want to be sure I’m doing it right. 🙂

  3. what is the dimensions of the table, height, width, length etc. angle degree of cuts for leg tops and bottom ?

  4. This is soooo great. Love it! I wish I had a separate playroom for the kiddos. Maybe someday! I think I could still find a place for some of the cuteness you have though. Those rolling cubes are awesome. I’ll be following. Thank you!

      1. I went to Lowes to buy this Project Panel, and they told me that the it could not be stained? It says on the plan that it is Pine but at my lowes they did not have a pine one? Do you know the exact name of this piece and is all the project panels that same and will hold stain? Thanks for your help!
