Hey there!  I have been trying to decorate my kids bathroom for quite a while now.  I’ve been torn on a style/theme because I have two older boys and a baby girl.  I need something unisex but I also want it to be a “kids bathroom”.  I knew right when I saw the awesome alphabet nursery wall on pinterest that I had my inspiration….I just needed to make it less frilly!

This is what I came up withSmile  for about $65 and here’s how I did it!

cut boards

I purchased 10 1×3 furring strips at Home Depot and cut them to the measurements above.

measurements

The measurements are long point to long point.

Gorilla Glue

I used Gorilla Glue wood glue to build the frames…

Staple

Gorilla Glue Wood Glue

Rust-Oleum Dark Walnut

I chose Rust-Oleum Dark Walnut stain for the frames.  Paint 1 coat on with a foam brush or roller and wipe away with a cloth after 5 minutes!

plan

I purchased my alphabet at Hobby Lobby.  I picked many sizes and bought them when unfinished wood was 40% off.  I only spent $53 but you could definitely spend less if you purchase smaller/cheaper letters!  Before painting the letters and hanging them on the wall, I laid everything out on the floor and took a picture to refer to later.

Rust-Oleum Flat White

Spray paint the letters with Rust-Oleum Flat White.

Now to hang the lettersWinking smile

Command Strips

I chose to hang the frames and letters with 3M Command Strips.  You can use sticky tack also but the Command Strips are so easy and do not damage the paint on your wallsSmile

Cut Command Strips

Command Strips aren’t cheap so I cut them in pieces for the letters to save moneySmile

That’s it!!!  I tried to get the best pictures possible but my bathroom is a galley style and I had a hard time capturing the entire wall…so please bare with meSmile

I am in LOVE with the way my unisex, juvenile bathroom is shaping up!  I have so many more ideas for it and I can’t wait to share them all with you!

Thanks so much for stopping by and Happy HalloweenSmile

  1. ⭐I LOVE MINE!!! I built my own using the plans at www. WoodworkPlans.info – highly recommended you check those out too. They are detailed and super easy to read and understand unlike several others I found online. The amount of plans there is mind-boggling… there’s like 16,000 plans or something like that for tons of different projects. Definitely enough to keep me busy with projects for many more years to come haha

  2. Love this idea! I too was loving on the alphabet gallery walls I’d been seeing pinterest but not really knowing where to start. I think I will have to do this in my playroom and I know just the spot!

  3. Great idea! My daughter’s bathroom is also the guest bathroom (jack & jill bath) so I while I want it to be fun for her, I’d like for it not to scream little girl! This is a nice way to tie in “kid stuff” with adult colors! Thanks for the idea!
