Hey friends!  Happy Friday!

I’m very excited to be sharing plans for my Restoration Hardware inspired dining hutch today!  I shared the sideboard plans a couple weeks back.  Thanks so much for all of your sweet comments and shares on it!  I always love reading them!

As always, I will share a few tips and pictures from my build here, and you can see the full set of plans over at Ana-White.com!

Here is a quick shot of how the hutch turned out!

Again, don’t be intimidated by her size!  Although this is a big piece, it is a very basic build with very basic cuts and lines.

Like my sideboard, I chose to use PureBond Plywood for  this build.  PureBond is great because it gives you the look of real hard wood for a fraction of the cost.  It’s also formaldehyde-free and made in the good old USA.  For us, it has become our ‘go-to’ material when building most furniture pieces.  You can watch a little video of the Shanty Sisters talking about the benefits of PureBond below…

You can also check out more on PureBond by clicking the link below, or by visiting their Facebook page where you can get information on trying out PureBond Plywood for FREE!

I had the nice guys at Home Depot cut my PureBond plywood into 15 3/4″ boards.  Here they are doing all the hard work while I stood patiently behind them and played with my phone… 😉

Pretty darn easy!

I used my very favorite tool for this build… My Kreg® Jig!

I used 3/4″ pocket holes and 1 1/4″ pocket hole screws for the whole thing!

I also finally had the chance to put my Kreg® Shelf Pin Jig to use!

One of my very favorite features about this hutch are the movable shelves.  In minutes I added pocket holes to the entire piece using the Kreg® Shelf Pin Jig!  Let me show you how easy it was!

I started by clamping a block of wood to my base.  This serves as my starting point on all of my sides so that my holes are spaced the same on each one.

The shelf pin jig comes with a special drill bit.  I attached it to my drill, and drilled my first 6 holes into one side.

The shelf pin jig also comes with a locating pin.  It allows you to move the jig and place it into one of your existing holes.  It keeps all your holes spaced perfectly… How smart is that?

Love this tool!  After I was finished I showed my hubby the shelf pin holes I made because I was so proud ;-)… And I didn’t really have to do anything!

I used Gorilla Wood Glue for all of my seams…

Here are a few more progress shots of my trim and how everything came together.

I stained the piece using the same materials I used on the sideboard…

You can find Rust-Oleum Ultimate Wood Stain at Lowe’s.  We love it… It’s a one-coat application and dries in an hour!

And a few more pics of how it turned out…

You can see my post on the sideboard HERE!

  1. This is GORG-E-OUS! I like the idea of using the PureBond wood, especially when building a piece of furniture this large. Did you find that it stains well? Is this the same wood that you used on the other pieces of furniture you’ve built recently….dresser, bed, etc? I’d like to know more. Thanks!

  2. Both the hutch and the sideboard are amazing! Just beautiful! I am contemplating building them for my sewing space for storage. I can not thank you enough for sharing your plans.

  3. I am wanting the shelf pin jig so bad! I am also super impressed with your trim corners, I am still working getting better at cutting the angles perfect! Great Job!
