Happy Monday guys!

I am SOOOO excited to share my latest furniture build with you guys!  I teamed up with Ana White to create this AMAZING Pottery Barn Kids Inspired Armoire!  Here is how she turned out…

Pottery Barn Kids DIY Armoire

Oh wait! Don’t forget the inside!

DIY TV Armoire

I kind of LOVE it to pieces.  So, as always I will share some tips and tricks here, and you can access the full set of plans over at Ana-White.com.

For starters… Let’s talk wood.  You probably wouldn’t believe that this entire thing is made mostly of plywood!  Yup!

Many of you have heard us talk about our LOVE for PureBond Plywood.  This armoire is a great example of why we love this product so much.

PureBond Plywood is a hardwood plywood that you buy in 4’x8′ sheets at Home Depot.  You can have the HD guys cut it down for you to make it easy to throw in the car.

You get the versatility and size of plywood, but the look of beautiful hardwood!  Too legit.  Plus, it is made with Formaldehyde-free glue which makes it safe to breathe and it’s made in the good ol’ USA.  Win win.

I used 2 sheets of 3/4″ birch and 2 sheets of 1/4″ birch for this project.  That’s a whole lot of PureBond 🙂

Make sure to check out their site for more info on this great product and you can follow them on Facebook where they share fun giveaways and projects using their products!  So fun!

I used my Kreg Jig to put the whole thing together!

Here are my pocket holes for my side bottom piece.  I used Gorilla Wood Glue on all of my joints as well!

I used 3/4″ pocket holes and 1 1/4″ pocket hole screws on the entire thing!  Ash and I will be sharing a video on how we use our Kreg Jigs in the next couple weeks!  For those of you avoiding opening yours, we hope to take the intimidation out of it!

This is my base piece attached to one of my long side pieces.

Pocket Holes from Kreg Jig

To attach all of my shelves, I used the Kreg Jig Right Angle Clamp to hold my wood in place while I attached screws.  This little guy is the bomb.  Look how it holds the pieces together…

It really is like having a second pair of hands.  I use mine ALL the time.

Here is the top of the armoire all attached…

Really, this is a large piece, but the build is so basic!  The frame took no time and then I was ready for trim.  I used all select pine for my trim.  I would normally search for straight white wood boards to save on cost, but I gave up searching after 15 boards and decided to bite the bullet and get the select.  SO glad I did!

I used my FAV new tool for the trim!  You guys are going to love this baby!

Ryobi AirStrike Cordless Brad Nailer

It’s Ryobi’s new AirStrike Cordless Brad Nailer!  I am in LOVE.  This thing will shoot up to 700 nails on 1 battery and will shoot up to 2″ nails.  Plus, you have no need for an air compressor so it can go anywhere with you!

If you are in the dark about what tools to start with, be sure to check out our FAVORITE TOOLS page!  We have links and suggestions to our very favorite tools to help you get started.  The list is short, and a wonderful investment!  You can build an entire house of furniture with a few great tools!

Finally I will give you a tip on those cute feet!

I used my Ryobi Cordless Jig Saw to cut them out of select pine.  Here are my cuts in the order I made them…

Cut 2

And for cut 3 I went straight down the board and did the same on the other end.  You may then have to go square those corners off a bit more but it’s easy!  I compare it to cutting a turkey with an electric knife 🙂

Foot of Armoire

I used the same stain for this as I did on her bed…

Rust-Oleum Ultimate Wood Stain in Kona!  You can find this at Lowe’s and it is the best stain ever!

I also found my hinges and pulls at Lowe’s…

How fun is that?  And SO MUCH storage!

The drawers are an optional insert done on a separate plan.  The great news is that you will have enough PureBond leftover to make this part with very little else left to buy.  We will be sharing the plan for those next week!

Thanks so much for stopping by!   I hope you love it as much as she does!   Remember you can go get the full set of plans over with Ana on her amazing site!

I have also shared her bed I made her below…

  1. Where are the actual plans. You used to have a nice set for this as ice built 1 a few years back but lost my nice copy of plans. It had colored coded materials list with cuts and each cut was colored different and each step had pictures with color coding. Where did these plans go ???

  2. I think I’m going to turn this in to a wardrobe. Would be amazing! Thank you for your ideas. Please keep them coming! You really are inspiring!
    Thanks again.

    1. ???Super excited because I built this myself and it turned out so beautifully! SO happy! I used the plans at WoodworkPlans.info to build mine – I highly recommend you visit that website and check their plans out too. They are detailed and super easy to read and understand unlike several others I found online. The amount of plans there is mind-boggling… there’s like 16,000 plans or something like that for tons of different projects. Definitely enough to keep me busy with projects for many more years to come haha ???

  3. Do you have the plans for the drawers? I would LOVE to make this for my daughters room, but I need drawers to put her clothes in! thanks! 🙂

  4. So I have to admit that I stared at this project on paper for at least 5 hours this weekend. I love the idea of having two of these in my oldest daughter’s room since she moved to your neck of the woods for college. One for the tv and the other one turned into a murphy bed! My issue is converting the whole thing to house a twin mattress inside. It’s going to take some time to wrap my brain around it but I’ll get it done! I plan to use the Kentwood line to furnish that room. I’m so excited to get started on all of it! You two do such great work and you’re an inspiration to us girly girls that want to take pride in things that come from these two hands. 🙂 Thank you so much!

  5. You are a wonder woman! I can`t believe!! You can make anything!! Awesome! 🙂

    Hugs,

  6. This is so beautiful! My hubby has recently started accumulating some woodworking tools and I’ve really been taking advantage of that 🙂 My list is about a mile long and this one just got added!

  7. It is absolutely fabulous. What a wonderful piece and your tutorial is super. Perfect size too. I would love for you to link this up to my Inspire ME party later this afternoon. It is definitely inspiring. Hugs, Marty
