Hey there!  So progress on our home build is going super fast still but it’s been the “not so exciting stuff”.  You know, like the HVAC, electric rough and plumbing top out.  But, I did share on our Instagram, last week, that our dad has been busy creating some fun storage spots around the house!

While this has been going on, I’ve been busy making decisions on our finish-out.  Woohoo!!!

So, let’s talk FLOORING!

I’m 100% decided that everything downstairs (minus the master bedroom) will be hard flooring.  This summer, I discovered a flooring that didn’t just work with my style, it IS our style!

It’s no secret that we love some reclaimed-looking wood for our furniture and projects.  Well, the same look is now available in LAMINATE! Check it out!

L3101roomsceneArmstrong just came out with a new line of flooring called Architectural Remnants that is made to look like reclaimed lumber!  And, guess what?  It’s not only gorgeous, it’s LAMINATE, which is exactly the type of wood flooring I am looking for.  I made up my mind that laminate was the route I wanted to go.  With 2 teenage boys, a toddler and the possibility of a dog, it was the clear choice in my head.  It’s so easy to clean, it’s durable and there really is no maintenance with it.

The picture above is Woodland Reclaim/Old Original.  I love how each board looks like it has come from a different place. The distressing is gorgeous and the boards come in random widths, adding even more character!

RSL3106_2AHere we have Skip Planed/Skip Sand.  I love the dark distressed marks down the boards!

RSL4015_3This species is called Lustre Cut Exotics/Lustre Sawn.  I love the rustic look with the dark gashes through the boards!

RSL3104_3Here is the Saw Mark Oak/Sawmill Oak. I like the dark, worn look throughout each piece.

RSL3100_1And finally, we have the Antique Structure/Historic Element.  The distressed and worn white paint is so pretty and makes such a statement in a room!

My jaw literally dropped when I saw the samples in person.  I can’t believe that it is laminate!  Every single selection is GORGEOUS and the grains and textures give it the look of reclaimed natural hardwoods but they don’t come with the hefty price tag of hardwoods 😉  Win-win for me!

I can’t wait to show you all which one I picked!  Which one would you pick and where would you install it?

  1. Been working hard to find a sample and I was wondering if you chose the reclaimed “warm” or reclaimed “dark. So excited about getting my new floors. Love following you!!!

  2. They are all beautiful, but I like the first one the most. I can’t wait to see which one you choose. We installed some medium quality laminate on my main floor several years ago and it looks as beautiful today as it did then. I use a cleaner I found on Pinterest. The only damage we have done is when we dropped an old computer monitor on it. It gouged a small hole. I just took some stain to the damage and it just added to the rustic texture. I have had so many compliments on the flooring and it truly is easy to maintain. Laminates with texture are so realistic looking. Good choice.

  3. Those are gorgeous!!! I’m now a little bummed, why didn’t they have this when I put in laminate 18 months ago!!! 🙂 I love the first one and the Oak/Sawmill Oak. Your house will be stunning and I can’t wait to see it.

  4. We just chose a high quality laminate for our new home too, and I couldn’t be more excited! With kids in the future, a large dog and a cat already I was tired of working about my dark, shiny hardwood flooring in my previous house. Can’t wait to enjoy my new floors that should stand up to daily wear and tear a whole lot better! PS. LOVE these reclaimed looking samples you’ve shown here!

  5. The first one is beautiful! It’s my favorite too, although I love the skip planed one as well. I’m not loving the price though, yikes! You can get hardwoods for the cost of these laminates.

    1. Hi Angie! I’m glad you like them:) $3.79 a sq. ft. Is very reasonable for a luxury laminate in my opinion. I haven’t seen a hardwood that looks this beautiful at that price 🙂

      1. I wonder what I’m doing wrong then, because I immediately (LOL) went to price it since I’ve been looking to do laminate instead of hardwoods too and it comes out to over $8 a sq ft when I put in my dimensions!

          1. One of the ladies from this site emailed me and said that the website quotes much higher than a retailer.

  6. I fell in love with the Woodland Reclaim/Old Original the second I saw it. As I’m not a carpet or tile person I would be putting it throughout the house, and the different colors and variations in it insure that it will go with everything, while looking beautiful.
I also like the Antique Structure/Historic Element, I’m not sure where I would put it but it is lovely.
