Hey guys!  We are trucking along on our new home build and we are getting to some of the fun stuff now!  I’ve been busy making garage door decisions.  Garage doors really make a huge statement for a home and whether you are building a home or you are looking to update your home, garage doors are a great way to get a lot of bang for your buck!  They totally change the entire look of your home which is why I have been analyzing color, style, hardware, windows/no windows.  You name it!

2-Car-Garage_edited-1Now that the brick and stone are done, it’s really time to narrow down my decisions.  I’ve made the choice to go with Raynor garage doors.  They have so many styles, materials and color options!  I really like the look of wood garage doors but fact: we live in Texas and the maintenance of a wood door would be so much work, not to mention they can be pretty pricey.  I found Raynor because I was looking into wood-like garage doors and I LOVED their AccuFinish doors!  They are steel doors so they are very durable but they have a natural wood look made from a laminate film so they are maintenance-FREE!  Yes, please 😉

They come in 5 different door styles not to mention numerous color options which is a bit overwhelming to me but on their homepage, they have a really cool link to Design-a-Door!  You can actually try different door styles and colors on your own home! It’s really easy, you just upload a picture of your garage and you can see what each style and color look like!  How cool is that?  I may have been sucked into this tool for a while;)  It’s addicting!

step2

After you upload your picture, it will guide you through the steps.  You choose single or double door and then the shape.  Mine is a rectangle.

step3Next, just grab the little blue dots at the corners and pull them to adjust the shape and size of your garage.

Then, you will choose the family of doors you want to try out.

step4Now, here’s where the fun starts!  You can see on the tabs at the top of the screen that you can choose panels, colors, window trims, glass, decorative hardware and handles 🙂

Here are some of the styles I tried out!

Oh my goodness!  This is just too fun!  It really did help me to visualize what each style and color would look like on my home and I love that you can see what the windows will look like too.  It’s so realistic!  I’ll be back soon to share the doors that I picked but for now, go have a little fun designing a door yourself!  You can click HERE to design your own!

Which style, color do you think looks best on my garage?

Thanks so much for stopping by!

  1. Please don’t get any of the ones with arched windows or anything on the top. It just accentuates that your frames are not arched. Some people in our neighborhood have them where the non arched frame even covers the arched windows!

I am not sure the barn style ones match your house. I like the 3rd one from the bottom the best. Fun!
