Hey guys! I’m back with another house update and it’s time to make some tile selections! You can check out any house update posts that you may have missed HERE!

I’m so excited to share this post with you guys!  I’ve never really been “excited” about tile and I wasn’t super excited to pick tile for our new house.  I assumed I would pick one size tile for the kitchen and all the bathrooms and maybe a coordinating tile for the walls… not so fun.  I started seeing The Tile Shop pop up on social media and the pictures they shared of their tile blew me away!  I searched them online, loved what I saw and realized that they just opened two stores in Dallas, TX (which is fairly close to us) and a new store in Southlake, TX (which is sooooo close)!  I talked Whit into coming with me to check it out and WOW!  Mind blowing.

daughter-inspirtion-2It’s official, I LOVE TILE now 😉 This is the inspiration for our daughters room…swoon!

I have learned through the building process to always bring a camera along with me so that when I’m making other decisions, I can go back and look at the selections I have already made.  It has helped keep me organized for sure! I was lucky enough to snag some great pictures at The Tile Shop and I’m happy to share them with you and give you a good idea of how I came up with my tile selections!

shower-floor-inspirationI knew from seeing the selections online that I could be overwhelmed but my goal going in was to find a great neutral floor tile for the entire house and I thought I might get a little crazy and pick a trendy tile for all of the walls. When we walked in we were shocked!  There were about 30 different bathroom and kitchen displays wrapped around the entire store. They were so pretty but where to start!

michaelThat’s when Michael, the store manager, greeted us and walked us through every step!  He was so helpful and I truly could not have made the selections I did without his help. He told us to walk through all of the displays and take note of everything we liked. OK 😉

daughter-inspirationWe fell in love with this room and it screamed my daughters (and my) name. We fell in LOVE with the hexagon tiles on the floor.  The colors were a tad off from what I was looking for but we told Michael we liked it and helped me personalize her bathroom to match my house!

master-bath-4-inspirationI loved the subway tile around this tub and wanted something similar for mine!

brick-lay-inspiration-2More subway tile 🙂

master-bath-5-inspirationI also found this shower set up.  Wow!  The small strip of mosaic tiles really caught my eye so I decided to do something like that in our master too.

master-bath-inspirationThis shower, I thought, was very pretty too and I loved the tiles on the wall!

shower-wall-inspirationI kept seeing accents around the shower heads and decided I wanted to tie one in as well!

pretty-shower-tileLove the basket-weave tile on the wall and the floor!

master-bath-3-inspirationAnother example of an accent on the shower wall.

decoratie-tile-piecesWe also found an isle with pretty accent tiles!

shower-floor-inspirationI’m dying over the floor in this shower.  I love the color variations and the small squares!

herringbone-inspirationI saw herringbone patterns everywhere and loved them all!

herringbone-backsplash-inspirationMore herringbone here but I also LOVE the beveled edges on the subway tiles on this backsplash!

kitchen-inspirationWe swooned over this honeycomb accent!  Wow! And, more subway tile love!

help-from-michaelOnce we took pictures of our favorite designs, we found Michael and started picking out my floor tile for the kitchen.  That gave us an idea of what color tones I wanted through the house (I also brought a sample of our laminate flooring, carpet and paint cards to make sure they all went well together).

honeycomb-inspirationThen we browsed the isles and found similar tiles, to our inspiration pictures, in my color scheme.  Here’s a honeycomb that we were swooning over!

boys-bathroom-inspiration-5I wanted our boys bathroom to have a  bit of a masculine feel so we started looking for tiles that were a little more rustic looking.  We really like the dark veins in this tile.

boys-bathroom-inspiration-4And decided this subway tile needed to be in their bathroom somewhere!

boys-bathroom-inspiration-2Another option…

boys-bath-inspirationI loved the touch of the mosaic tiles with this tile!

boys-bathroom-inspiration-6We discovered this black honeycomb and decided to make it the accent on the shower wall!

I’m happy to say that after a few hours, we made our selections! If you follow us on Instagram, you have probably seen some sneak peaks of my kitchen and baths 🙂  I can’t wait to share the final reveals with you guys very soon!

I just can’t say enough about The Tile Shop. From their amazing tile selections to the customer service, I am in awe! I have not seen tile selections, like the ones they offer, anywhere!  If you have a store in your area, you have to check them out!  It is quite an experience 🙂 It was such a great feeling to walk out of the store feeling like I totally customized my own unique rooms and none of them are the same but they coordinate!  If you don’t have one in your area, you can browse and shop online.  I also follow them on Facebook and Instagram and love seeing their inspirational pictures everyday!

Be sure to check back soon for all of my room reveals!

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Ashley 🙂
