Today we are kicking off our 12 Days of Christmas series!  We have teamed up with a few of our good friends to share 12 days in a row of holiday inspiration.  So… Sit back, grab a coffee and here we go!

12DaysCOUNTER1

Today’s project came as a bit of a challenge.  Recently, we were approached by Martha Stewart Living to try our hand at one of her new projects using her line of holiday products at the Home Depot.  I loved the idea of her Ornament Planter, and I knew it would be a perfect fit for decorating my front door for Christmas.  Check out how it all came together!

How cute is that?

This project could not be more simple.

I started with two urns from Home Depot.  These fit the style of my house great, but you can really use any pot or urn that want!

I wanted to fill all of that empty space inside the urn, so I filled both with bubble wrap from the Home Depot.

Next I used a roll of wide burlap to cover the bubble wrap.  I let it hang off the sides a bit because I love the look of it peeking out with the ornaments.

Next I used some artificial evergreen stems and laid them on top of the burlap.  I let them hang over a bit so they would show under the ornaments.  Martha uses real greenery on this part which I do love, but pecan branches are about all I have access to here in Texas 😉  So… Fake it is!

The next step uses Martha Stewart’s 24″ ornament wreath.  I love this thing because it comes already put together and ready to go!

Just place it directly on top of the burlap.

Next I used a box of Martha Stewart ornaments to fill the inside of the wreath.  I wanted it to make a little mountain of ornaments in the center.

I decided to make a cute bow out of some decorative burlap ribbon for mine.  I used my hot glue gun to attach it to the front of the urn.  You can also tie it if you are worried about messing up the urn.

I topped everything off with another ornament wreath on the front door.  I used the same ribbon to hang it on the door.  Bam!  All done!

I teamed up with Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia, Inc. for this project.  They sponsored all the goodies for this project, and all of my opinions are my own.  Hope you love the outcome as much as I do!
