Project (URL):

Time to Complete: About a month in my spare time

Total Cost: About $400 with lots of scraps left over

Finishing Details:
Sanded and sanded and sanded. Then applied a wood sealer, then Minwax Espresso stain, then used Minwax Polyshades in Espresso to highlight areas (it’s much darker). For the table top, I did a technique called rubbing out after several coats of Deft Semi Gloss Brushing Lacquer. The technique involves wet sanding with 500 grit, 1000 grit and 2000 grit and then buffing with wax. The result is the smoothest finish! I wish you could feel my pictures!

  1. It looks amazing! I’ve done four coats of Minwax polycrylic on my kitchen table top and now want to try rubbing out to smooth out the imperfections, and then wax it like you did. What type of wax did you use?
