Original Shanty2Chic project it was inspired by:
Time to Complete: 15 hrs
Total Cost: $70
I’m a beginner, so I was pretty slow with this build that took me a total of 2 weekends and a couple nights after work to finish, but I love it! I had 1-2 pieces of lumber from the plans already, so I saved a little bit there, it still ended up costing me $70.
The finishing process took a while to achieve the look I wanted.
Step 1: Stain w/ Minxwax Weathered Oak.
Step 2: Stain w/ Minwax Special Walnut.
Step 3: Sanded the edges to look worn.
Step 4: Dry brushed/white washed with white paint.
Step 5: Same step, but with Annie Sloan Chalk Paint “Paris Gray” paint.
Step 6: Waxed with Annie Sloan Clear Wax & after 24 hrs waxed with Annie Sloan Dark Wax.
I’m very happy with the finished product and I learned a lot along the way – like triple check that your boards aren’t warped before leaving the hardware store! 🙂
