DIY Hanging Planter FOR $30

Pieces like this add so much warmth a life to any space and this was so easy to build! Come hang out with us in our shop and build it with us! Just click HERE or the video below to watch!

DIY Hanging Planter

It really is so easy! To begin, Attach the two side pieces to the bottom piece with 1 1/4″ brad nails and wood glue. We used our Ryobi 18-Volt Airstrike Brad Nailer to attach but if you don’t have a nailer, you can use a hammer and finish nails.

Next, attach the front and back pieces with 1 1/4″ brad nails and wood glue. Make three of these boxes.

DIY Hanging Planter – Chalked Spray Paint

Once the boxes were finished, we sprayed two coats of Chalked Spray Paint by Rust-Oleum, all over. When the paint dried, we used our Corner Cat Sanders to distress the edges.

If this piece is going to be outdoors, make sure to add an outdoor protectant! We used one coat of Spar Varnish by Rust-Oleum.

DIY Hanging Planter – Hardware Time

Time for the hardware! We found these gate pulls at Home Depot with the gate hardware and attached them, once the Spar Varnish dried.

Once the hardware was attached, we added the twine. Watch the video for the detailed steps on threading the twine.

Now, just hang it from a hook, add some potted plants and you have yourself a Hanging Planter!

We found the pots and the succulents at Home Depot!
