Shanty2Chic Flip House Episode 3

We are moving along on the flip house, and so much has happened since our last update! Click the play button below to see this week’s episode!

Here is a quick recap of where we are at this point!

One of the biggest changes to take place this week was the wood flooring was installed! It’s amazing! We found the wood floors at Nebraska Furniture Mart and they are so stinking pretty! We love the finish of these! It’s almost the same tone as our favorite Briarsmoke stain.

And, let’s talk about that fireplace. We wanted it to be the focal point of the room, and that’s exactly what it is. We decided to take it all the way up to the ceiling to help accentuate that gambrel roof. We built the top of the fireplace up with 2×4 to be flush with the brick, and then had the tile placed on the whole face. The tile is AMAZING. It’s encaustic tile from Riad Tile. It’s some of the best, and most affordable cement tile we found. You can see it on their website HERE. We had the hearth of the fireplace cut from our quartz that is the same quartz we used in the kitchen. We have our painter coming soon to get the inside of the fireplace cleaned up as well as the brick surround painted.

We trimmed all the windows and doors with a basic, beautiful farmhouse style trim. We used 1×6 for our baseboards and 1x boards for all the trim. We will be sharing a more detailed video on achieving this look next week!

We have cabinets! We had our favorite cabinet guy, Bill of CityWide cabinets do the cabinets for us. They turned out perfect!

Paint has happened! We love our paint choices for this home! We worked with Sherwin-Williams for all the paint choices. The walls are an eggshell finish and they are our favorite white called Pure White. The baseboards and all doors and trim are painted the same Pure White color, but we used a satin finish.

We also painted the cabinets. We used Dorian Grey by Sherwin-Williams in a satin finish for the kitchen cabinets and 2 of our bathrooms and LOVE the outcome. It’s so pretty with the floors and white walls. We used the same Pure White for the master bath cabinets as well as the laundry room. The grey quartz against the white cabinets is so pretty!

This quartz below is by Arizona Tile that we got through Nebraska Furniture Mart. The slab is called Metropolis Dark and it’s amazing. It’s a really cool, almost honed finish and a really pretty grey-black.

The lighter grey quartz is also by Arizona Tile through Nebraska Furniture Mart. It’s called Concrete Grey!

Another update we are super excited about is the lighting! We have started hanging some of the lights, and WOW. We teamed up with Capital Lighting through Lighting Design Company for the lighting of the flip house. We both now officially want new lights in every room of our homes ha! Look how cute these turned out! And, just wait until you see the ones we haven’t installed yet!

The tile on the laundry room floor has begun! This was another encaustic tile from Riad Tile, and it’s SO beautiful!!!

Moving upstairs… The stairs have been completed and we will stain them as one of our last steps. We went with a very straight line look with a rectangle hand rail and square spindles. We had our trim carpenter design the newel posts to mimic those lines. We can’t wait to see it uncovered and finished!

The rooms upstairs are ready for carpet and electrical finish. We have the back balcony to finish off, but it’s moving!

And, paint didn’t just happen inside… The outside is painted too and the difference is AMAZING. The white is called Dover White by Sherwin-Williams and the trim is done in Tricorn Black also by Sherwin-Williams. The cedar posts are just finished with a clear varnish to protect them.

We are so thrilled with where we are on the house, and can’t wait to show you even more next week!

Very impressive design work. I have followed your projects for several months and have used several of your project plans with good success. I would like to know where you obtained the wood used for the stove vent/hood system. Planning to do a kitchen remodel and really like the look of the vent/hood in your project.
    Thanks
