We have been sharing our free plans for 13 years! One of our very favorite pieces to build are Dining Tables. A Dining Table build can seem intimidating, because of their size, but they are actually very simple to build and most  can be built with just a few tools!

Our goal with every plan we share is to make the instructions easy-to-follow, to use just a few basic tools, and to build with inexpensive pine boards, hardwood plywood and framing lumber.

Here are the 5 tools we recommend you have to build a Dining Table

* Note: A lot of our dining table plans use a table saw to give the construction lumber a straight edge. This is usually an optional step and noted on the cutting diagram in the free plans.

Other supplies you’ll need for most of our Dining Tables

  • Pocket Hole Screws
  • Wood Screws
  • Stain or Paint
  • Wood Finish (i.e. polyurethane or polycyclic)
  • Sand Paper
  • Wood Glue

What is a Kreg Jig

A Kreg Jig is one of the three tools we use on our build projects and every single dining table top! The purpose of the Kreg Jig is to join two boards together. It’s an ideal option for beginner wood workers because it creates very strong joints and it’s very quick and easy to use. Joining boards can be done in so many ways. Some common way to join wood are with wood screws (using pilot holes to prevent the wood from splitting). biscuits, beadlock or pocket holes. We’ve been using our Kreg Jig for 13 years!
