Hey friends!  Yes… You read that title correctly, although it’s still crazy to us to even write the words.

We are SO EXCITED to announce the air date of our new show on HGTV!  The show is called Open Concept, and will be premiering Sunday, September 20th at 1pm CST / 2pm EST!

Here’s the description of our show from HGTV’s site!

Sisters, Whitney and Ashley tear down the walls of Brooke and Dack’s boxy house. Four small rooms become one large open concept space that is the perfect home for entertaining. They use their mad carpentry skills to fill the home with 16 pieces of custom furniture they make for a fraction of the cost it would be in store. The end result is a stunning reveal of the living room, kitchen, family room and laundry.

We were approached to do a show almost a year ago.  Before that, we had always said no to TV opportunities.  We have actually been approached several times in similar ways, but nothing felt right about the opportunities.  Something felt different about this one, and so we agreed to start the long (but amazing) journey of putting together a show.

Turns out our gut feelings were right.  We could not have asked for a better team than we have been surrounded with.  They are so incredibly good at what they do, and they do nothing but give you guys a very real taste of us and our lives.  We thank God for this entire opportunity and have seen Him open doors we didn’t even know were there to be open.  His hand has been on the entire thing.  Our very favorite part?? We finally get to help YOU.  That has been the best feeling in this whole thing.  We really do get to use our skills now to go into other homes and change a family’s life.  That’s ultimately why we started blogging, and now we get to take that to the next level.

This is Ash and I just before seeing the house for the first time… We will call this a shanty selfie.

After walking through the house, we did some interviews.  Can’t explain the expressions here… We make those a lot quite naturally… 🙂

And yesterday… Yesterday was demo day.  Best day yet.  We finally were able to see our vision for this house and family as we tore the walls down.  I am seriously sore typing as I write this…. Even my fingers.  The best workout really is tearing down walls… Trust.

But, we will be sharing lots of fun updates on Instagram and Facebook, so follow us there!

And do know one more thing.  On our show… There will be furniture.  Lots of it. 🙂

Thank you so much guys for your support over the last 6 years.  We really have you to thank for this opportunity as well.  Thank you for your encouraging words, for sharing our projects that you create, and of course for sharing our site and projects with your friends.  We still shake our heads at where Shanty2Chic has come in this 6 years and know that it is not our doings.  It’s much bigger than us, and we are thankful to be along for the ride.

Keep being women of faith cause without God this wouldn’t be possible!

  4. I am SO excited for you guys! I had never touched a power tool in my life, and after reading your blog and asking for some tools for Christmas.. I built a desk! And a coffee table, and put up board and batten in the dining nook. My boyfriend and I feel so empowered and we love DIYing! If it wasn’t for your blog with your detailed tutorials and everyone-can-do-it attitude, our condo would look nothing like it does now! Thank you so much and Congrats! Cant wait to see the show!

  5. Yah! And congrats! If you ever want to work your magic on a fixer upper 90’s gag house in Southlake let me know. 🙂

  6. Y’all!! I’m am right around the corner from your pilot project!! How have I been following you two for all this time and not known your in the same area as me?!!! We have some projects if you are taking applications!! We are typically big DIYers, but since we found out we are having twins about 6 weeks ago we know that our wish list of projects won’t be completed before they arrive. Talk about gut wrenching! We still have a nursery, master bath, laundry room, & master bed room to finish. Sigh….. If your looking at new clients we are volunteering!!

All that to say I can’t wait to see the pilot!! It’s going to be amazing!!!! Good luck, y’all!!!!

  7. I agree with Jeanette. For me HGTV has fallen short for us that truely want to Do-it-ourself. I am so excited for you and to see your show.

  8. I am beyond happy for you! As a new business owner doing renovations and furniture re-design, you have been a go to for me as a model of how it should be done right. Having my own show is something I am aspiring to, so to see you on the road gives me such faith and jubilation. CONGRATULATIONS!!!

  9. Looks like I will need to get cable back! I don’t want to miss this at all! I am so excited for you two plus the millions of people who will get the chance to see what you can do both with your hearts and your talents. You have been a part of showing me what I am capable of…. so excited to see how your new reach in this new medium will change peoples perception of what they can and cant do! Bravo!

  10. Love! You deserve it! As a big HGTV fan, I love the new house flip show with Chip, Joanna + 4 kids. It’s refreshing tho watch a show that’s totally upbeat and is the model of a good family – husband and wife very respectful,& in love, with 4 happy, healthy kids who feel like part of a team. I think you would bring that same positive energy & flair to HGTV. Keep us posted! And kudos to you!

  11. Back @ you guy’s. I came across you through Ana White, about a year ago, and I also haven’t had the opportunity to build any of your pieces yet, but I continue to keep up with you guy’s because you truly give a sense of strength, faith, and inspiration to do, and have things, that most of us would not be able to attain. I tell everyone I know about your site, Anas, and Mimigstyle. So please, keep up the good work.

  12. How exciting!! I have been following you guys for about a year now and I absolutely love your creations!! I have not had the opportunity to make anything myself yet but always know where to go when the time comes. I feel like I know you all and I am so excited to see what the show brings. The Lord will bless you in your new adventure!! Can’t wait to see it!

  13. I used to be a HGTV junkie, but over the years it seems to be the same ole same ole, so I rarely watch it anymore. Now, I can hardly wait for your show! Awesome opportunity for you girls, and the rest of us as well. God surely is good, isn’t He?

  14. Congratulations! You are both so talented! I can’t wait for you to be able to share more about the show. I will definitely be tuned in!

  15. Congratulations!! I love following you ladies and you both have always been an inspiration! As a woman strong in her faith, I love when people thank God for their blessings.
We are currently building a new home. My family has experienced some hardships and needed a fresh start. I am so tempted to build the furniture for in it but have not had the courage to take the next step. Maybe the show will give me that courage!! God speed…
