How to Build a DIY Farmhouse Dining Table
I am sooooo excited to share the newest Ana White plans with you guys today! This is my very favorite build yet!
I have been in serious need for a hardwood outdoor table to seat my family of 7. Â When we stumbled upon a beautiful, long farmhouse table from Anthropologie, I knew it was love at first sight.
Everything was perfect about this rustic dining table, except that $2,000 price tag. Ouch! That hurts to even write. Â But… I knew who to call to help me make my own at a very small fraction of that cost!
Here is our knock off version…
I will share a few pics from my dining room table build, and you can checkout the full set of plans for this table HERE on Ana’s site!
Let me start with price….
$65 and all built with pine framing lumber!
How great is that?? Â It was a super easy piece of furniture to build as well.
I used Gorilla Wood Glue and deck screws for most of the construction! 😉
I also used my Kreg Jig® on a few parts!
For those of you on the fence about finally purchasing one of these, go for it! This tool is AMAZING, and has been life changing for me! It has enabled me to furnish my entire home for very little cost. It’s a small investment with a HUGE return. You will thank us! I suggest getting them from Amazon! Ash and I are Amazon junkies… Best prices and free shipping… WIN WIN! Here is a link to the model Ash and I use below!
That kit is really everything you will ever need, other than screws as you run low!
I LOVE, LOVE the results and the price for this solid wood table!! This table can be modified to an outdoor table by just spacing your top boards a bit more apart.
To finish it off, I stained the whole thing with Rust-Oleum Ultimate Wood Stain in Dark Walnut. This is definitely one of our top picks for stain! It adds a good warmth and rustic feel and compliments a wide variety of interior design style.
To protect that, I added two coats of Spar Varnish on the table top.
Want to see a few more pics?? Yah.. Me too! 😉
What do you think??
Did I mention $65???

Free plans for the matching benches coming soon!

Beautiful!! I’m going to replace our dining room table with this!!! Do you have plans for bench seats as well? 😀
Hi, we are making this over the weekend. I’ll post pictures once we’re done (probably won’t have it stained this weekend but definitely will by next weekend). Thanks so much for sharing the information and inspiring us!!!!
Trying to make this at home for my first furniture project. I’m only on step 1! I tried attaching the 45 degree pieces with glue and 2″ screws from the inside of the post.
The 45deg pieces don’t seem very sturdy. They can easily be moved/wiggled slightly. Is this normal and it will be better once supported by the rest of the pieces?
What’s the best way to attach them so they are strong? I don’t want to go ahead with the rest of the table build only to have the whole project sub-par.
You need to make pocket holes for the screws
I just built this wonderful table, as an indoor dinning table. I love it! The only thing that I would add to the plans is to secure the table top with scrap wood pieces screwed up from the bottom. Thank you for sharing these plans!
That is so awesome!! kudos to you!!
What stain did you use? love the color
I love this idea….it is perfect for anyone…and it looks pretty sturdy. does it tip over easy though?
We are almost done building ours and then we are going to work on the bench. We are also wanting to put some chairs with ours. Do you have any suggestions for chairs that would go with this table?
Parsons chairs on the ends. You can cover them with your favorite color cover. Anna’s Linens has them for 9.99 ea. Look on Craigslist for used chairs.
We are using all wood antique chairs from thrift stores and antique stores. They are all different but have the same tie on cushion so they are “matching.” Just make sure the chairs don’t already have cushions. I love the different wood stain finishes on all of them coming together with the different stain of the table.
can you post some pictures of the chairs you used to go with table? i love the idea of indoor farmhouse table, but am having a hard time finding chairs that would compliment and be cost efficient. thanks.
I want one a bit bigger but I am asking my son-in-law to get started on it as soon as possible:),I have been wanting a farmhouse or library table forever and this is perfect. Thank you!!
Thanks so much for the inspiration! I’m going to make one of these for my wife.
Could you please post the measurements and angles you used to build this fabulous table? Thanks *
I love this table…wish there were instructions on how to make benches to match!
this table is the bomb. What kind of wood did you use? Thanks!
I just finished mine last night! Thanks for the inspiration!
