How to Build a DIY Farmhouse Dining Table
I am sooooo excited to share the newest Ana White plans with you guys today! This is my very favorite build yet!
I have been in serious need for a hardwood outdoor table to seat my family of 7. Â When we stumbled upon a beautiful, long farmhouse table from Anthropologie, I knew it was love at first sight.
Everything was perfect about this rustic dining table, except that $2,000 price tag. Ouch! That hurts to even write. Â But… I knew who to call to help me make my own at a very small fraction of that cost!
Here is our knock off version…
I will share a few pics from my dining room table build, and you can checkout the full set of plans for this table HERE on Ana’s site!
Let me start with price….
$65 and all built with pine framing lumber!
How great is that?? Â It was a super easy piece of furniture to build as well.
I used Gorilla Wood Glue and deck screws for most of the construction! 😉
I also used my Kreg Jig® on a few parts!
For those of you on the fence about finally purchasing one of these, go for it! This tool is AMAZING, and has been life changing for me! It has enabled me to furnish my entire home for very little cost. It’s a small investment with a HUGE return. You will thank us! I suggest getting them from Amazon! Ash and I are Amazon junkies… Best prices and free shipping… WIN WIN! Here is a link to the model Ash and I use below!
That kit is really everything you will ever need, other than screws as you run low!
I LOVE, LOVE the results and the price for this solid wood table!! This table can be modified to an outdoor table by just spacing your top boards a bit more apart.
To finish it off, I stained the whole thing with Rust-Oleum Ultimate Wood Stain in Dark Walnut. This is definitely one of our top picks for stain! It adds a good warmth and rustic feel and compliments a wide variety of interior design style.
To protect that, I added two coats of Spar Varnish on the table top.
Want to see a few more pics?? Yah.. Me too! 😉
What do you think??
Did I mention $65???

Free plans for the matching benches coming soon!

Can you explain how the tabletop is attached? It’s not mentioned here or on the Ana White plans.
Do you have any plans for a bench?
About how long did this take to build?
How does the top get assembled and attached to the legs. That’s the only part not clear in building instructions
I’m not really good at math and less so when it comes to building and measurements. If I were to rip these boards down to have straight edges, how would I begin to adjust the plans? Would it only effect the table top?
I love this! I just finished making my own! Thank you for the plans!!
How did you attach the top? Pocket holes? Wood screws? Thanks!
Trying to finish building, how did you attach the top to the legs
Have you had any trouble with it handling the outdoors? I want to build this, but I’m concerned about how the cheap pine boards that I would usually buy for an indoor project will hold up outside. Would it be worth the extra cost of using Cedar?
How did you secure the top? Pocket holes or straight from the top?
LOVE!!! this table. Built it and the matching bench turned out so fabulous. do you have any plans for a matching floor standing wine rack???
Do you have plans to make the matching bench? Also, is there a video of this being made?
Hi there! I absolutely fell in love with this table and talked my husband into helping me build one for our back patio! We swapped out the top for a split herringbone design and I am obsessed!! Thanks for the great inspiration! My table is over at ahintofhome.com if you want to check it out 🙂
The table looks awesome!!, I was wondering how you attached the legs to the table?
They originally drilled in from the top and then filled the holes. That presents a problem if you need to break it down to move it. I’m thinking that I will use pocket screws in the legs. Sharon Taylor posted a good idea on Oct 17 2017 about using hanger bolts.
How do you attach the table top to the bottom? That’s the only part I am stuck at. I would like to attach the table top to the bottom where I can later take it apart when I move since it doesn’t fit through the doors. Any tips will greatly be appreciated.
