Hey friends!  With the never ending ridiculous temperatures here in Texas, I have been focusing more of my time on indoor projects.  Today I tackled a lamp for my oldest girls’ room.

I had this old lamp that used to be on my bedside table.

I love the lines of it and knew a little Rust-Oleum would do the trick.  First, I gave it 2 coats of Painter’s Touch Blue Sky.

While that was drying I started on the shade.  This lamp had a shade but I wanted a slightly different shape so I bought this one from Target.  I think I spent around $10 on it.

I decided to add some flowers to it.  These are the girls quilts I was going off of…

I found a cute fabric at Hobby Lobby that just about matched them.  It’s the same fabric I used on my storage boxes.

I cut a few 1.5″ strips.

Hot glue one folded end to some felt…

Then, I just twisted and hot glued it down.

Once that is all finished, you just pull the end of the fabric to the back and glue it.

I made all my flowers and then started on my stripe.  I wanted to use ribbon for this part.  Ash even went and got me some… Thanks Lash!  However, I hated the way it wasn’t laying smoothly so on to plan B.

I taped off a stripe using some painter’s tape.

Then, I used a stencil brush and some acrylic paint to make my own stripe.

I let that dry while I shantied the lamp up just a bit.  I used some 220 grit sandpaper to distress my edges.

Finally, I hot glued my flowers on randomly until they made me happy and I was done.

What do you think??

Hope you like it 🙂

I kind of LOVE using fabric flowers!  I used them on these other projects too…

  1. Old style looks better…That type of lamp goes for 100$ in it’s original state. You made it go from 100 to 5$ it’s pretty tacky

  7. So pretty! I’m in the process of redecorating our guest room and I might have to do something similar using the quilt fabric I’m using. IF the quilt turns out, that is! I love the shape of your lamp…I can’t help but seeing a mom with her hands on her hips! Anybody else see that?
