So, I finally have my OWN Silhouette Machine! My first project for it was a stenciled pillow. I just love these Pottery Barn pillows but I will never own one because they are too rich for my blood!
That’s where my Silhouette comes in handy:)
I purchased this pillow at Target for $17.00
I used contact paper to cut this pretty butterfly stencil.
Then, I dry brushed over the stencil using Lamp (Ebony) Black acrylic paint by Americana.
To dry brush, just blot your stencil brush until it has just a bit of paint on it, then brush over the stencil.
After a thin coat of the acrylic paint, I peeled the stencil away.
I followed the same steps to add the middle of the butterfly. I had to cut two separate stencils to get the butterfly the size I wanted.
Done! Easy as that:)
I paired my new pillow with these two ruffled pillows I found at Pier 1 when they were 20% off! I love, love, love my new pillows. They aren’t an exact match to my first loves but they are exactly the look I wanted at a third of the price!
If you want your own Silhouette machine to play with you can enter our giveaway HERE for your chance to win a FREE machine!
We hope you all have a great Easter Sunday! Thanks so much for stopping by:)
Matthew 28:5-7
5 The angel said to the women, “Do not be afraid, for I know that you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. 6 He is not here; he has risen, just as he said. Come and see the place where he lay. 7 Then go quickly and tell his disciples: ‘He has risen from the dead and is going ahead of you into Galilee. There you will see him.’ Now I have told you.”
Awesome idea on the pillow. I’ve been drooling over those same pillows too. I just purchased a Silhouette and had no reason to take out of the box until today. Thanks so much for the inspiration!

Thanks so much Jan:))) Good luck on yours!
What a gorgeous pillow. I have a Silhouette that I need to get out and use! I’ve been so busy with my girls I haven’t had a chance to play with it!
I too have been in love with those Pottery Barn pillows. Very cute! What a geat machine!
I lke your pillows. Using just the black gives it that rustic French look that’s in right now. I could also see painting the different sections the different colors if you had that kind of patience. I probably wouldn’t, but I’m usually afraid to paint on fabric since it’s a one shot deal. You were brave to try it, especially on pillows that you bought for this. Love the color of your other pillows too!
What fun! I love that you were able to stencil the design. Enjoy your pretty pillows!
Thanks so much Chris;)
Great minds think alike:) A Sillouhette would have been much easier:)… love the pillow!!! If you have a chance… check mine out!
