We are back with Shanty Flip House – Episode 7 of our Shanty Flip House and today we are talking all about how we are making this house a home! Tearing out walls and part of the ceiling left us a big beautiful but empty space, in the main part of this house. We were challenged to anchor each space to help potential buyers see how these spaces could be lived in.

Of course, that lead us to build a beautiful coffee table for the living room. This coffee table would fit right in front of the fireplace and the furniture surrounding it will create a living room in this big space! As usual, we’ve got the free printable plans for you and the how-to video! Just click the image below to see how easy it is to build this DIY Coffee Table! And, did we mention it is less than $40 in lumber?

Building the DIY Coffee Table

Step 1 – The Table Top

Cut the table top planks and drill 3/4″ pocket holes, as shown on the cut list.

Attach the planks together with 1 1/4″ pocket hole screws. We like to use our Kreg Face Clamps at each pocket hole for a super smooth table top!

Measure and cut the breadboards to size. Attach them to the ends of the planks with 1 1/4″ pocket hole screws.

Step 2 – Building the Base

Cut the base pieces to size and drill 1 1/2″ pocket holes into the angled ends of each foot. Attach the feet to the runner with 2 1/2″ pocket hole screws and wood glue. Build two of these bases.

Cut the legs to size and attach them to the top base with 2 1/2″ wood screws from the top of the base and into the legs. The pocket holes should face up. Note: We popped a couple of 2″ brad nails into the top of the legs to keep them in place while we attached them with wood screws.

Flip the base over and attach the bottom base with wood glue and 2 1/2″ wood screws fro the bottom of the bottom base and into the legs. The pocket holes should face down. Refer to the plans for the exact placement of the legs.

With the table top upside down, center the base on top of it. Attach the table base to the top with 2 1/2″ wood screws from the top of the base and into the table top.

Step 3 – Time for a Finish

Now it’s time to sand the table down and add a finish! Make sure to share your builds with us on social media and use #shanty2chic so we can share them too!

Happy Building!
