Hey guys!  Hope you all had a great weekend!

I spent mine with Bapa getting the nursery closet just about finished.  I thought I would share some of the progress!

So… Here we go!

This was the boys getting ready to set up the shelving unit in the middle of the closet.  When we started to build the closet I didn’t feel like it would have enough depth for a shelving unit, but once the walls were up my plans changed! Lots of room!

This is the unit we built in the middle.  I ended up using Particleboard shelving from Lowe’s because it was about half the price of the 1×12 pine.

We used Gorilla Glue and 2″ finishing nails to assemble the unit and then attached it to the wall using 2 1/2″ drywall screws.

A good friend of mine gave me that top shelf a few weeks back.  She was getting rid of it and I gladly accepted knowing I would one day find a home for it.  Little did I know that it fit the dimensions we needed for that top shelf to a T… Whoop!

Thanks Miss Janet!

Bapa hard at work attaching the 1×4’s we used to anchor the rod brackets.  We put Gorilla Glue on the back of these and attached them using the finishing nails as well.

Here is the left side of the closet…

See that big white patch on the wall??

Bapa let my son leave me a little surprise… I love it.  It makes me smile and it’s not going anywhere.

And here is the left side…

That’s pretty much it for the inside!  I just finished caulking and puttying all the nail holes and plan to start painting next week when my kiddos are at their grandparents.

Here are the boys setting the door…

The entire project is done at this point minus paint.  I will show you guys in my next post how we trimmed the door out.  It’s a few steps that give it a big pop… I think you will like it 🙂

Thanks so much for stopping by!  I can barely stand at this point to I’m off to bed!  Take care!

  1. We have a handy grandpa around here too. My boys will follow him all over the house watching him fix things…they are always so enthralled. Thank goodness for handy grandpas! 🙂 Your new closet is fantastic by the way!
