The first step is to assemble the “L”‘s. These will be the sides of the headboard. We attached a 1×2 to a 1×4 with wood glue and finish nails. Do this two times.

Attach the headboard slats to the back of the “L” pieces with 1 1/4″ finish nails and wood glue.

Flip the headboard over. Measure and cut the top trim to size. Attach it to the top of the headboard with 1 1/4″ finish nails and wood glue.

Measure and cut the diagonal trim pieces to size. Center them on the top of the headboard and attach with 1 1/4″ finish nails and wood glue.

Attach a cleat to a side piece with 1 1/4″ finish nails and wood glue. The headboard end should be flush. Do this for both sides.

I have an English bulldog that weighs 65 pounds. Do you think this build will be strong enough to hold her weight?

Oh. Em. Gee. This might be my favorite thing you two have ever made (and thatโ€™s saying a LOT)!! ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜ Cutest thing ever! I will 100% be making this for my dog Fletcher. Maybe this will get him to sleep somewhere other than my bed all day!! ๐Ÿ˜‚
