DIY Shiplap Wreath Frame

DIY Shiplap Wreath Frame – Cut the planks and slats

Cut the planks and the back slats top size. Lay the planks face down and attach the back slats to the back of the planks with 1 1/4″ brad nails and wood glue.

Flip the planks over and paint the front of the slats. You can find the paint that we used HERE. We used two coats.

Cut the top and bottom trim pieces to size and give them one coat of stain. You can find the stain color that we used HERE.

Attach them to the top and bottom of the frame with 1 1/4″ brad nails and wood glue. The front edge of the trim should be flush with he front of the planks and back of the back planks.

Measure and cut the side pieces to size. Give them one coat of stain and attach them to the sides of the frame with 1 1/4″ brad nails and wood glue.

The final step is to add a 1″ screw to hang the wreath!

DIY Shiplap Wreath Frame – Drywall Anchors

We used these drywall anchors to attach the frame to the wall. The top trim has an overhang on the back of the frame that we used to hang over the anchors! Just make sure that you anchors are level with each other.

That’s it! We now have a large, cute, unique piece of art for our wall AND we were able to build it with wood from our scrap pile!
